Healthy Vending Products
The major subject of discussion in our industry at the present time is healthy products. The manufacturers and suppliers of the vending products are working hard to make products healthier and improve the quality. Although our focus is healthy, but we can’t bully any group of people into purchasing healthy products. Change requires education. We will continue to push healthy products provided customers purchase these new products.
It is very important that you select the correct vending machine/s for your needs.
Questions to ask before placing a machine:
1. How much space can you commit for a vending machine?
2. What types of products are needed for your location?
A) Snacks
B) Light Meals
C) Beverages – pop, juice, diet, water, etc.
D) Coffee – Hot Drinks
E) Bars – Chocolate- energy
F) Frozen Foods (High volume locations only)
G) Fresh Food and Sandwich (High volume locations only)
3. There are vending machines for all types of products but it requires significant space for many machines. The combo machines don’t provide the volume that a single use machines offer but they require less space and work well for lower volume locations.
4. It is important that the company that places the machine will service the machine over the long term.
5. You should be aware that the biggest cost for a vending machine operator over the long term is the servicing of the machine/s so the machine will have to sell the volume of product to justify the visit. We are all aware of the cost to bring any trade to an off site location.
6. The vertical beverage machines vs the horizontal beverage machines. The Vertical beverage provides a larger selection of different products while the horizontal machine provide greater volume of fewer products. There is concern about the toughness of the vertical machines.
Select the correct operator:
We recommend you select a vending machine operator that not only places the vending machine/s but also services the machine/s. There are some that place machines and they promise much but they don’t service the machine/s in the long term. Always ask a potential vending machine operator if they will service your machine/s and for what period of time.
